For the soutzoukakia

- 500 g. minced veal
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 2 slices of yesterdays bread
- 1 cup. wine
- salt
- freshly ground pepper
- olive oil for frying

For the tomato sauce

- 1kg diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 pinch of sugar
- 2-3 allspice
- salt
- pepper

Directions

- Soak the bread in the wine.
- Squeeze it and put in bowl.
- Add all the ingredients for the soutzoukakia and knead together until smooth.
- Boil all the sauce ingredients for 15 minutes until it thickens.
- Wet your hands in wine and mold small meatballs.
- Fry in olive oil for a few minutes until golden brown.
- Add them to the sauce and let them boil for 10 minutes over medium heat.
- You serve traditionally with rice but I prefer handmade pasta.
