Caramelised Onions Tart

Sweet and salty at the same time, this tart is a delicious appetizer for gathering with friends.

For caramelized onions
  • 10 onions, cut into small cubes
  • 10 tablespoon butter
  • 10 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon chopped thyme
For cheese base
  • 400 g. cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoon yogurt
  • fresh oregano, chopped
  • salt,  pepper


For caramelized onions
  • Peel and cut onions into small cubes.
  • In a saucepan put the remaining ingredients over high heat.
  • Once butter and sugar melt, put in the onions, mix well and sauté on high heat for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, and when liquids have evaporated, low heat.
  • Continue to cook, stirring more and more often, until onions get a nice color. This can take 15-20 minutes.
  • Let them cool.
For cheese base
  • Mix together all the ingredients until a homogenous mixture.
How to set the tart up
  • Bake tart until is done.
  • Once cool pour cheese mixture and continue baking for 15 minutes at 180°C.
  • Finally, place caramelized onions on top and continue cooking for another 15 minutes.
